My friends husband has to use a machine at night called a C.P.A.P machine because of severe sleep apnoea.?
10 Jul
Almost since the day he started using it in the morning he has blood in his mouth, his throat is severely dry because of having the air blown into his mouth ? at such force. He hasn’t got a cough, he doesn’t smoke not for four years now, and he seems fine about from the blood in his mouth in the morning.
I said he could have something wrong with his gums to cause the bleeding any ideas, and yes he has made an appointment with his doctor for a week tomoorrow, thats the only one she could get him. Any ideas how to make the machine more comfortable for him

Sounds to me that what maybe happening is that it is drying out his nose so much he is developing small nose bleed that is running down his throat due to the force of the air. A couple of things he should do…. first – check your filter replace if dirty, clean your hose and mask to make sure nothing has grown on them… second – use a saline nasal spray to get everything moist … finally – definitely get a humidifier for his machine. Be sure to use distilled water in the humidifier (this keeps minerals from building up in the hose). Also for me the couple of times I had to use tap water it had a smell to it.
good luck
My wife uses a CPAP as well. It sounds like he is getting rather dry during the night. Some of the machines have a humidifier on them (hers does). He may want to check and see if possibly his has one and he didn’t realize it or if there is an attachment he can get that will put some moisture in.
Good luck.
I also use a CPAP machine, and haven’t had this problem. You talk about the force of air being blown into his mouth. I wonder if the machine needs adjusting. The clinic adjusted mine, it went wrong, the airflow was so fast I couldn’t use it. They had to give me a new machine, as they couldn’t do an emergency repair. I would suggest your husband contacts the sleep clinic which supplied him with the machine.
